This morning I went to the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge once again. The sky was cloudy and temperature was just above freezing. I saw several cars stopped on Wildlife Drive, and people out of them aiming their big zoom lenses at a a bird. I parked my car and got out.
“Aren’t we lucky today,” said someone behind me.
“What is it?” I asked.
“A snowy owl!”
The snowy owl lives in areas around the North pole. This year, for some reason, they have been sighted in states as far south as North Carolina. A few have died in collisions with airplanes.
