Our yellow magnolia doesn’t have any leaf, but all of its flowers are open and clearly visible through our windows and patio door. They definitely brighten these first spring days which are still quite chilly if not outright cold.
Here are some shots I took today once I came home from work.
Beautifully photographed. I love the color.

Here’ the information: f/22 at ISO 640 and 1/320 sec for the first photo, f/8 at ISO 200 and 1/800 sec for the second, and f/8 at ISO 200 and 1/500 sec for the third. I used a Canon 6D for the first shot, and my new Canon SX50 for the other two.

Bless you for this information. I followed you because not only do you know how to capture gorgeous images, your style caught my eye. I had a feeling the first flower you photographed was with a high f/stop (I believe the pros say just the opposite, it being a small f/stop). The detail and the clarity was stunning. My main focus in photography is flowers and Nature. I work with two lenses with a Canon 50D. Both of my lenses are a Canon f/2.8, one a 60mm macro, the other a 15-55mm zoom lens. I am getting jaw dropping results with my macro and at times cannot believe what I have captured. I am coming into my pinnacle season of the year, which is flowers galore and for the first time in my 15+ years of photographing, I have two upper end quality lenses. And you know what? I feel like a kid in a candy store!!!
Also, I am self educated so all information from other photographers is greatly cherished. The books I have been reading about macro tell me to use a tripod, yet the places I take my camera into, it is not possible to have a tripod. I’ve learned to become the human tripod, though some days, groaning just to get to that still cold ground. I do it. Because I am loving what I do.
Again, I am so grateful for the information you have given me, and I will be looking forward to what is forthcoming on your site. With Love and (((HUGS))) Amy

You could plant one! Look online for growers that sell yellow magnolia trees and check whether they would thrive in your zone.
