On a Sunday more than a week ago, at the Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge it was very windy and cold. As I drove by I saw a dozen egrets standing up on a bank of the marshes.
There were snowy egrets, like this one.
and great egrets, bigger but just as intimidated by the freezing wind chill.
A younger one ignored the cold and was actually trying to fish, twisting and slipping on the mud.
Outstanding photos Hien, and you expressed the coldness remarkably.

That’s too bad. We have so much water here. If only it could be shipped or pipelined to your area.

Gosh, what BEAUTIFUL birds, Hien ! Perhaps you were lucky to see them in the cold wind, as they were fluffing up their gorgeous feathers !

M.R., actually the egrets can be seen on most of the days I’ve been to the Refuge. However, they are usually fishing or flying around, and not standing with their backs turned against the wind like this bunch. It was cold, and I took these photos from the comparative warmth of my car. π

My husband spent a few months setting himself a kind of challenge: to see how good a picture he could get while inside the car. π I don’t think he ever got one of any wildlife, though …
