There is at least one family of cardinals living in the woods near our house. They come to the bird feeder often, and since they are larger than other birds, I put out some seeds on the deck to make it easier for them, and also for me to photograph them.

I used a Canon SX 50HS which has proved to be very good for bird photos. It’s not very expensive.

That red color is a sight to behold as the cardinal streaks through the tree branches, sometimes even in pursuit of the female cardinal.

Nature has usually made the male animal more colorful and handsome, because they need all the help they can get in order to attract their mates. That’s my theory anyway, M-R. 🙂
