In addition to cardinals and blue jays, smaller birds inhabit our backyard and the woods behind us. These birds are colorful, but somewhat shy and not easy to photograph as they never stay still for very long. A bird feeder and seeds spread around do help in attracting them.

Stunning bird portraits and such a gentle way to allure them ! The male house finch looks as if it is posing for you ; perfect timing and eye contact, Neihtn !!!

I appreciate your comments, Doda. The birds were cooperative, and their natural colors are what did the trick.

The couple on the end, Hien … I laughed like anything ! He’s shouting at her “Good grief, woman ! – is that all there IS ?!” and she’s quickly swallowing her last mouthful before he whips ’round and grabs it out of her beak. 😀

Such imagination, M-R! 🙂 They are a couple, always show up together, and he fights off any other male that tries to come near her. I tried to capture such fights but never could get a shot since they occur in a fraction of a second.

I will try not to let you down, M-R. I am not a dedicated birder, just someone who has recently become interested in our feathery friends.

I love how intently the nuthatch is looking down 🙂 I suppose the bird feeder and seeds did the trick!

I think it was eyeing a sunflower seed on the deck, deciding whether to fly down and pick it up. Thank you for stopping by this blog.
