On the 4th of July I posted pictures of young cardinals on this blog. Now, two months later, they have become almost full-fledged adults. Almost, because they have not lost their ebullience and still come together to the bird feeder as a group full of energy and enthusiasm.
Here’s a youthful male cardinal, with a goldfinch and a chickadee.
Next is a svelte female who has lost her baby fat and roundness.
Another young male:
Here’s a juvenile woodpecker who is toying with a sunflower seed.
Finally, a pitiful older gentleman who was molting and still did not have his full complement of feathers.
