The hummingbirds that you have so far seen in my posts are ruby-throated hummingbirds, but only the males have that ruby or red throat that gives them their name. Up until yesterday I did not see a male, but he finally made his appearance. Since then, he has been fiercely defending his bird feeder, dive bombing and chasing away the female birds.

Meanwhile, the female birds still have to have their food. So they sneak in when he is not looking,
and then get their nectar fix.
