Yesterday, on the shortest day of the year, I went to Liberty State Park in New Jersey across the Hudson river from New York City. My goal was to take photos of the Big Apple as it was lit up at night. The only problem was the near freezing temperature, and my camera battery started complaining after 45 minutes of shooting. I also had to keep taking my gloves off to adjust the camera settings and change lenses.
Here are the photos, starting at sunset, even though the sun was in hiding.

Spectacular cityscapes and skylines too, dear friend ! Twilight and Night have spread their magic cloak above Big Apple and you have effectively rendered the charms of the loveliest city, despite the cold conditions! The sun is shining in my country ,we get spring temperatures and it’s hard for me to come to your shoes …
Merry Christmas,Hien ! Enjoy your holidays 🙂

If you do come, let me know. I only live about an hour away from the city, and maybe we can get together.

Beautiful night shots, Neihtn. Thank you! Hubby and I just today bought mitts for our hands, photographer mitts that have a section that flips back to reveal your fingers. It gets seriously cold here in WNY and when I am outside the worst thing is getting cold. Just wanted to pass that on to you in case you would like to get some. We found a good priced glove at EMS (Eastern Mountain Store). I believe we paid $29.95 for them and they are really warm. We also bought bomber hats at Cabello’s for $49.95 that have real rabbit fur (sorry if that offends you … I am a bit hesitant about this myself) and SO warm. As I stood there debating to buy this hate due to the fur issue, I decided to buy it and bless the rabbit that gave its life for me. Hope this info helps you. Love, Amy

Thank you Any for that information. I will definitely check out those gloves. I also carried hand warmers and just slid them into my gloves. That helped a lot, except when I had to take the gloves off.

I gave you the wrong price for the hat, Neihtn. It is $39.95. And about the mitts, the lighter colors seem warmer then the black, for some odd reason. Now I can hardly wait for SNOW so I can put these mitts and hat to the test! When I had them on in the store they were seriously warm. And surprisingly, both are well made, with the hat in my opinion, priced wrong, way too low. I was thinking of hand warmers too. Merry Christmas!! (((HUGS))) Amy
