A Blue Jay came to our bird feeder this morning. They are known for their blue color and crest. When they are feeding at peace, the crest is lowered as seen in the following photos. Since the Blue Jay was so large compared to other birds, it monopolized the feeder for a few minutes.
Once it got a sunflower seed, it flewΒ to the nearby magnolia tree to break it up and eat the inside.
Then of course we had the usual staring match.
Great shots! But it’s not a staring match, it’s called posing for the photographer π

We don’t have very many blue birds but the Blue Jays make up for it. Thanks Sue!

Beautiful blues, so distinctive. They can terrorize other birds sometimes in our yard, but when the birds had to fend off a large snake the flycatchers and cardinals were the big guys and the bluejay, ha – stood and watched!!
