The Snowy Egret is one of the most beautiful birds to watch, even when it is trying to catch a fish, as shown in the following photos taken yesterday at the Edwin B Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge.

Really great series!! I love snowy egrets!! In Audubon’s day they were called Snowy Herons (egrets are herons but with aigrettes) and they were considered a delicacy in some circles. Hard to conceive of a snowy as a food bird..ever!! Different times.
