I took the following photos of these beautiful shore birds at the Edwin B Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in May of this year, but somehow never got around to post them here. Better late than never, so here they are.

Beautiful birds, Hien! The Dowitcher’s bill looks almost like it was clued on the face π I’ve never seen one before.

Very astute observation Tiny! I am wondering whether the part of the bill near the eyes was due to mud accumulating there as the Dowitcher foraged for food.

The beaks are all different shapes and sizes, just like human noses.
