From Lafayette, IN, we drove to Badlands National Park in South Dakota, and stopped for the night half way there, in Fort Dodge, IA. An hour before our stop for the night, we went to Calkins Nature Area in Iowa Falls, to visit Shirley Welden Butterfly House where Monarch butterflies, as well as other kinds of butterflies, are raised in a protected environment surrounded by mesh wire.
Distance travelled today: 560 miles
