Recently I was surprised when I read that fall colors in Europe are mostly yellow. Here’s the link to the article about this: http://www.livescience.com/5749-fall-colors-europe.html.
At this time of the year in New Jersey we see many fall colors: yellow, orange, red, pink, and hues of all kinds. Following is typical red foliage on a Bradford Pear tree at our house.

Below is a closeup of those small pears prized by many deer. They are the size of marbles, and their seeds contain cyanide so some say humans should not eat them. However, I have seen a recipe for making jelly from them:

This makes me want to plant a Bradford Pear tree at my parents place so we could get these great red colors – magnificent shot/perspective Hien, especially like the last shot.

Randall, I’ve read that some people consider these trees a nuisance because they are fragile and break under strong winds. We’ve lost two trees many years ago, but during Superstorm Sandy none of them fell down. They also put on a beautiful display in the spring with their abundant white flowers, and in the fall with their colorful leaves.

Mmmm, we get some strong windstorms in Pendleton so I think that may not work…however, my parents did plant a beautiful Japanese maple that was not suppose to hold and it is 30+ years old (and have those glorious reddish leaves…).
