Yesterday I saw a Snow Goose wearing a yellow neck collar with two letters and two numbers: UP and 62. Neck collars have been used to study the life and migration of these geese. A yellow collar means that it is a female. The letters and numbers probably mean something also, but only the researchers would know that.
Right on cue, the female turned in my direction to allow me a better look at the collar.
Suddenly, the male Snow Goose signaled they should take off.

Perfect captures again! I love how they run on the water at take off. I also hope a researcher sees your post as they are always interested to know where their birds have been spotted.

I am trying to find the research organization’s email address to send them the link to this post.

I’d recommend at least to send it to the Cornell Ornithology Lab. They often send such stuff onward if the bird is not “theirs”.

Doda, when I started out three years ago, I did not know very many bird names. But with time, I am becoming better at recognizing them. Thank you for your nice comments!

Thank you Amy! You should get into photographing birds. It may be challenging but you’ll be noticing things that you had not seen before.

My Mom’s favorite bird is a Cardinal and those are the very birds that come to our feeder. I am planning on setting my camera on tripod up at a window to try to get some good shots. I KNOW if I am outside these birds won’t come, especially at this time of year. 🙂 ❤

I mostly shoot from inside the house, with the patio door partially open. If I came out, the birds fly away, and only a few would bother to return until I retreat! 🙂

Yup just as I thought! OK. Now I must wait for the rain to pass, wash the window I will be shooting through and put lots of birdseed out. The Cardinals usually late afternoon. So, I will be prepared!!! 🙂

Oh. I want to give my Mom a framed image of a Cardinal that I took. Hence the reason why I would like to try to shoot these birds. (with my camera of course!) LOL ❤
