Each bird has its own way of eating peanuts. Here are a few examples.

Blue Jay.

Chickadee, probably the smallest bird that is not a Hummingbird.

Downy Woodpecker.

Tufted Titmouse.
Then we are back to the Blue Jay, the most voracious of them all.

Yes-January has been quite dull and wet for photos and I’ve been working quite a lot too. However-February will hopefully be a much better month. Really lovely your peanut pics 😀

Loved the chickadee and titmouse, it looks like they are ballet dancers! I may have to put up a feeder or two someday, I’ll bet that it’s very entertaining to watch the birds as well as photograph them.

A bird feeder would be good for those days when you can’t go out on your hikes.

Do they swallow them whole or break them up? Great photos!

Thanks Katelon! Usually they take the peanuts somewhere else, maybe their nests, and eat them out of sight. I think the smaller birds have to break the peanuts into smaller morsels in order to swallow them.
