It has been below freezing for the past several days with up to a foot (30 cm) of snow to fall two days from now. I have not been outside, except to go see a performance of Verdi’s La Traviata, a live broadcast from the New York Metropolitan Opera at a local movie theater. The singing was outstanding, but the stage set was minimalist and truly disappointing.
In any case, I went back to some old photos taken about a year ago and found the following with pairs of flying birds as the common subject.

Beautiful captures! Are the Bald Eagles juveniles or adults?

From their coloring, I think these were juveniles. In fact they flew together and one of them caught a fish but immediately lost it as the fish somehow escaped and fell back into the water.

Wonderful captures. Love the blue sky too. We have a LOT of snow, but the sky is blue today. I have been missing it.

Thanks Donna. Blue sky seems to have lifted everyone’s mood. However, they are saying more snow for this weekend. 😦

Donna, half of the snow came down as rain, so it wasn’t too bad. Still, it took 2 hours for my son and I to clean our driveway. Hope you did all right through the storm.

We got only about 3-4″, then it turned to sleet & rain. So much better than all snow, right?!!! 🙂

Spring is taking its time arriving here too. I hope the weather has calmed down a bit (or will do so soon). I loved this series of flying pairs 🙂

Thank you Takami. We are all waiting for the next storm to arrive. Schools and businesses are mostly closed tomorrow, and in many areas driving will not be allowed until the snow is cleared.

I listened to it on the radio – opera carries me away, the music enveloping me in its passion. The broadcasters mentioned that the staging ‘was symbolic.’
Your pairs of birds point toward the nesting season ahead. The snow geese are so lovely!

Maria Callas performed in La Traviata at least 60 times and still sets the standard for today. Thanks for commenting.
