Monday Monochrome is for black and white photos. Nevertheless, I thought it will be interesting to show you a white dogwood in both monochrome and its original colors.

White Dogwood, monochrome.

White Dogwood, in color.
Tell me which version you like better.

I prefer color almost always so my answer is easy. I always think back to when I was young and looked to identify a plant or bird and the illustrations were b+w which made it more difficult. This is a lovely monochrome picture, however. 🙂

Thank you! I too usually prefer colors, but once in a while monochrome also works.

It was very windy and I waited until the light was shining through the flower before pressing the shutter.

Both are beautiful Hien, but I have a preference for B&W – yours is gorgeous.

Thank you Mary! From your charcoal drawings, it is not suprising that you prefer the B&W photo.

This is a case where the black and white really looks great, and color isn’t necessary – at least in my opinion. Beautiful light!

I like both but the b&w lends itself to a more ethereal vibe.

I love the black and white version. Like any color vs b/w, you are first struck by the green in the center and the b/w has a great impact with the placement of the flower. The eye is led to the center of the flower in the b/w and the green leaf competes with the green center in the color version. Wonderful photo.
