Ruby-throated Hummingbird is a name that is more appropriate for the male bird who does indeed have a throat seemingly adorned with rubies under the proper lighting. He lives in our area and comes to the feeder, but never at the same time as the two females. In fact male and female hummingbirds do not share the same nest like many other birds do.
Today, in the afternoon, lighting was good and perfect for photographing him.

! Yesterday started with rain so I stayed home and decided to patiently take photos of these hummingbirds, over several hours.

I have said more than once how amazing your photos of birds in flight are but these take it to a whole new level. Who gets a hummingbird sitting still? Wonderful!

It’s rare for me to see a male in the wild, and when I do, they hide their beautiful throat that you captured so well!

Thank you Jerry. This is one of the rare times I get these ruby throats. This male bird usually comes out in late evening, but yesterday he came early.
