The first blizzard of 2018 is in full force outside. I can hear it as I write these words. Earlier I saw a couple of Northern Cardinals near the bird feeder. I took their pictures through the patio glass door.

I always wonder how birds keep those thin legs and toes of theirs warm in such extreme cold…

Oh, those poor babies. It’s a wonder they didn’t tap on the glass and say, “Let us in!”

Lois, you comment reminds me that once in a while we have birds that fly in and collide with the glass. Somehow they all fly away after that. The only real danger for them is the hawk that swoops in and collect his dues now and then.

Oh, dear! That’s not a good thing for the birds or the hawk. I had no idea about the hawk, Hien.

Amazing how they can withstand the cold and are so lucky to have you to keep them fed. Stay warm and safe, Hien!

I agree, stay safe and warm, if that’s possible in the storm that you’re having.

Thanks Jerry! We lucked out this time, only 5 inches. Nothing compared to the 28 inches we got in 1996.

Beautiful, so long as you don’t have to travel in it. Stay safe and warm, Hien.

You too Eliza! I saw that New England got three times as much snow as we did!

The coast with the high tides were the worst. Further inland was not so bad. It’s the windchill now that is so brutal.

With wind chill they say that we’ll get a taste of Siberian winter.
