It was a balmy 19 °F (-7 °C) this morning, but without the wind it was bearable. I did not have to wear too many layers when I took Jackie out. They do predict more snow tonight, but then temperatures will rise by 20 degrees or so in the next several days, a much welcomed heat wave.
Meanwhile the snow that fell last week has not melted much, as you can see in the following photos of birds that are not red Cardinals.
Your sparrows are delightful Hien – cute little ones, beautiful photography. I am so glad we no longer live in the East, especially in Maine along the shore where the cold was with an icy feel. Other than the cold, I love the State. Hope you stay warm and thank goodness the warmup is just around the corner.

I love these photos Hien, I hope that the warmer air we finally getting in Michigan makes it your way soon.

Jerry, it went up to 55 °F today! Your Michigan weather made its way down here finally. But they predict it will get cold again after today.

I love the Dark-eyed Junco! I have never heard of that specific bird, and will now be looking in up. Beautiful capture of the high contrast of the snow, light reflection and the dark bird, and not easy to do!

Thank you! Like many birds with dark heads, Juncos are difficult to photograph. Only rarely can I get the eyes to come out brightly.

The white snow really makes their colours stand out!

That’s one good thing about winter. It gives a nice background as it hides everything under a coat of white.

They probably are, but still come to the feeder to find food.

I really like the photos, Hien, and the puffed-up birds; you did a great job of demonstrating how very cold it is there. brrrrr — stay warm!

Thank you Jet! We are having a heat wave. It went up to 55 °F today! But it’s going to be cold again in the next few days, down to the twenties.
