Our orchids usually don’t bloom until March, but this year a new white orchid has been doing that since early January. No complaints from me, as we have no other plants with flowers at this time of the year.
Meanwhile, some more snow fell and provided interesting photos of the Crape Myrtle tree covered with it.
Snow and white orchids, a nice pairing. I like it, thank you!

Thanks Eliza! I will have to go out this spring to an orchard and try to recreate a similar image with pear blossoms.

I’m sorry to see that you’re getting more snow, although it does look nice on the Crape Myrtle. I love orchids, but I’ve been afraid of trying to grow them myself.

I don’t grow them myself either Jerry. It’s my wife who grows all of our flowers inside the house.

I have one just like that one and it is blooming too. It is inside my garage in front of a window.
However, I do not know the name nor the variety of this one. Hoping that you know.

I am not an expert, but I believe they are Phalaenopsis orchids. Here’s a link about them: http://www.aos.org/orchids/culture-sheets/phalaenopsis.aspx

Thank you for the link. I have now ordered a subscription to both the magazine and digital.
