The green background pops .. and such a lovely bird, even if it sounds like a cat mewing 🙂

Great photos. I had to look up the catbird on youtube to hear it for myself.

I have often heard the catbird while out on walks but have rarely seen it. Nice capture!

Beautiful captures, always a pleasure to finally get the shots after missing many times before. I remember hearing a Gray Catbird in Florida a few years ago for the first time, thinking there must have been a kitten in the bushes, lol. I happened to see my first female Gray Catbird two days ago at my daughter’s feeder in Delaware. 🙂

Thanks Donna! That’s a nice coincidence that you heard this bird recently in Delaware.

Stunning images of one of my favorite species of birds! I love the symphonies that they sing, made up of snippets of other birds’s songs.

Thank you Lynn! Do you see these Catbirds where you are now? It seems their range does not extend to the West Coast.

You’re right – another bird I miss seeing! Although not my favorite, the call became so familiar over the years that I do miss it. The birding just isn’t as good here. The scenery in general is amazing, and of course there are certain birds you see often, like Bald eagles, that are great but overall I’d say there are not as many species of birds, they’re not as colorful, and maybe not quite as abundant.

You did a great job of capturing the Catbird’s expressions.

Thank you Sandy! The bird stayed on that branch for about a minute, and I tried to capture all of its poses.

Beautiful captures, Hien. Catbirds have a very melodious territorial song, similar to mockingbirds. Then the mewing warning calls and one that sounds like it is saying “Jer-ry!” which always makes me smile.

Thanks Eliza! Bird songs and calls start around 5 AM and once I hear one I can’t go back to sleep. I think a Catbird may be one of those birds.

Mine woke me at 4:50 this morning, but luckily, I go back to sleep after putting a pillow over my ear. 🙂 (As I type this at nearly-dark, 8:20pm, he is still singing- haha!)
