This evening, I tried to shoot more photos near the bird feeder, and surprised two birds, one full of color, the other blander.
A Northern Cardinal flew in and landed on a magnolia branch. It shook itself as if to get rid of some water, and that’s when I took this photo. He was one of the reddest Cardinals I have ever seen.
A young female House Finch did not see me until I took her picture.
Nice captures, not very often one can surprise a bird 😀

Thank you John! It also surprised me. I was looking at the magnolia tree from the corner of my eyes, and it dove right into it.

I also agree with you about the redness of the cardinal, he’s a fine example of his species! However, I like the house finch almost as much, she may not be colorful, but it’s a great image of her anyway.

Thank you Jerry! You should have seen that flash of red as the Cardinal dove into the magnolia branches. The House Finch was more lady like! 🙂
