Today I went to Princeton Lavender, a small farm near our house that grows lavender and sells it under various forms, including honey from bees that feed on the lavender flowers. If you want to go there, their address is: 3741 Lawrenceville Road, Princeton, NJ 08540.
Several other kinds of insects were enjoying the lavender field.

Brilliant lavender macros strikingly displaying the sophisticated relation between insects and flowers! The honey from the farm must be delicious,Hien.I usually consume thyme honey.Does thyme grow in your area?

Doda, I went to the farm to buy their honey, but they were sold out. Haven’t heard of thyme honey from the US. It comes mainly from Greece, Crete, and New Zealand, and fetches a good price.

Nice shots of the stick bugs! I think that is what I called them when I was a kid 🙂

Oh, lucky you to find the mantises! I still remember my thrill at seeing some at the Staten island Botanical Garden. They pose nicely. 🙂 And the Clouded yellow – I remember seeing those too, they’re very pretty. A fun series of photos!

This series was entirely unexpected. Most of lavender had been cut and I almost turned around to go home. Then the owner of the farm said he was seeing many praying mantises and I went to where he was and took these photos.

Great captures of the lavender-lovin’ insects, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a brown praying mantis!

Thanks Donna. There is a Chinese Praying Mantis that is always brown. Green mantises may also change to brown to adapt to their environment.

Great captures – love the praying mantids, even though they are probably after bees. 😉
