In previous years, by now we would have frost, which would have killed all the summer flowers. This year is an exception, as yesterday we had temperatures in the 80 °F (27 °C). That is why, despite being ravaged by deer, our hibiscus flowers keep sending up beautiful and eye-catching blooms.

Nice collection of images. Would love to have that 80 degree weather here now. Just went through our first snow of the season. It’s still on the ground now, but should be gone by the weekend, I hope. Another month before we head to Arizona.

This is a fabulous sequence, Hien. The bud and the day after are probably my favorites – and the last shot, from behind – great ideas. A beautiful series! – but it’s great to see them all together. End of season flowers are so precious, aren’t they?

Beautiful captures of the hibiscus at every stage of its bloom, Hein. 27’C sounds warm for you this time of the year but the hibiscus seems to like it and wants to come out and play. Looks like it fades colour as each day passes by. When I lived in Malaysia, there were hibiscus everywhere and they were always bright red 🙂

Thanks for commenting Mabel! I also only knew red hibiscuses in Viet Nam. Now I am really enjoying these with colors such as red, white, pink, and a mix of them. I think I have seen a blue one also, but can’t remember in what catalog.
No problem about that transposition when spelling my name. It’s a very common one because in English grammar it is taught that “e” comes before “i”.

Beautiful images, Hien! We too still have flowers going with no frost evident yet. My roses are going nuts and yes the deer are munching. Instead of spraying Liquid Fence I am just letting them have this delightful snack. To say the least this Fall has been so odd!!
