In addition to Northern Cardinals, other regular birds at our bird feeder include Carolina Chickadees and two kinds of Woodpeckers. On the same cloudy days that brightly lit the cardinals, I was able to get several good shots of these other birds.

Excellent photographs of these old favorites! The red filed marks are so clear on the Downy & Flicker, but I also love the first Chickadee photo – every subtle color change is there, and he looks so neat and tidy. 🙂

Great photos. I assume the chickadees are members of the tit family. They remind me of coal tits that you might see in the UK.

Coal Tit and Carolina Chickadee belong to the same Tit family and look very similar.

Great shots! I have been trying to photograph chickadees, but they don’t stay still long enough for clear pics like you have.

Those Chickadees fly in, get one seed, then fly out. Fortunately, I planted a magnolia tree near the bird feeder and that’s where many birds stop to wait their turns or to break open the seeds before eating them.
