Among our backyard birds, a couple of Eastern Bluebirds are setting up their nest in a birdhouse right in the back of our family room. Here are some shots of them, taken this past weekend.
There are other birds which come to the birdfeeder, sometimes landing on the Yellow Magnolia tree to wait for their turn.

Thank you Julie! The birds that visit our bird feeder compensate somewhat for being confined to the house these days. Our state is among the hot spots during the current pandemic.

You don’t lack for entertainment, do you? These photos are delightful. The subdued colors in #2 are gorgeous – often, less sun is a good thing for color, and here it certainly was. The Chipping sparrow looks so sharp – that is a terrific portrait. I love hearing them – a simple song but it really carries. Stay well!

Thank you Lynn! We are blessed with many backyard birds and a magnolia tree that the birds like to perch on, especially the Bluebirds that are occupying the birdhouse right next to the tree.

Ah, your photos are always a delight. Nice the to see the Red Cardinal, I read a book a while back where a Red Cardinal was a central character (Fannie Flagg, was the author I think).

Hello Mr. Hien,
What a treat to have such beautiful birds come right to your backyard!
As has already been mentioned, they really do seem to go with the flow of nature without feeling the effects of the pandemic. Our birds seem to “go about as usual” too. Thank you for sharing such lovely photos 🙂
All best,
Takami

Maybe all birds are practicing social distancing, except perhaps those European Starlings that sit side by side on electrical wire by the hundreds or thousands. 🙂 Thank you Takami!

Beautiful photos.
Hien, I have a question. I took a photo of a large bird last spring and I see it again. I’ve found it next to a river in northern Idaho. It is big and colored somewhat like a Canadian Goose but it’s head is white with black markings and it has a black knob on its head. I tried various sites to help me identify it but can’t find it. It isn’t colored like a merganzer and is big, as big as a Canadian Goose. Do you know of a bird like I’ve described? It seems to travel with a smaller all white duck/bird.

It may be a Wild type Muscovy drake. Google that name and look at the pictures to see whether that’s the one you saw.

No, it isn’t that. Perhaps it is just a half breed of something. It has this knob on the top of it’s head, is mostly white but has some Canadian Goose brown on it’s wings, the knob is black and part of its face is black.

You are probably right. It’s a hybrid of two different kinds of geese or ducks.

It’s nice that these birds are not going crazy about this pandemic we are going through.
