The following images, in random order, are what I am seeing this summer with limited travel, too much heat, and more time at home.
The Eastern Bluebird couple in our backyard is still busy bringing food back for their second brood.
Pawpaw (Asimina Triloba) is plentiful this year. We have two trees which give more fruit than we know what to do with. Pawpaw does not ship well, and is not available in grocery stores. It has been described as tasting like a combination of banana and mango. Chilled pawpaw was a favorite dessert of George Washington.

I don’t think I have ever eating a Pawpaw, sounds tasty. That pair of Bluebirds are very productive and very cooperative in your photo sessions, another nice set.

This is fun to see, so many beautiful signs of summer! We have the same vetch over here – it may be considered a weed, but it really brightens up the roadsides. 🙂

What a treat to be escorted among the beauties surrounding you, Hien. Lovely, vibrant flowers and fruits. Especially liked the squash flowers and learning about the paw paw. And the female hummingbird photo is outstanding.

Thanks Takami! By the way the first brood is not helping the parents out with the second brood. After I took their pictures two weeks ago, they disappeared!

I do like the bliebirds, do they have a nice song? Is it distinctive. I am not very good at recognising birdson except for the obvious ones like blackbirds, crows, magpies and sparrows (chirp, chirp, they sing).

We have two zucchini plants, and that may be too many for us. But they are easy and fun to grow.

Makes being “stuck” at home a little more bearable when you’re surrounded by such beauty, doesn’t it Hien?

You are right of course, Dries. I am learning to enjoy our garden more this year and go out there several times a day to take care of all the plants, and to weed by hand.

Lovely set, Hien. I see someone identified your vetch. Planted because it fixes nitrogen from the soil, it has become an invasive weed, but it is definitely pretty. Pawpaws sound delicious, but I’ve never seen one grown around here, though apparently they are native and hardy to zone 5.

This was the first time I saw purple vetch at the refuge. If you lived close by, I would bring pawpaws over to you when they are ripe!
