As I write this, snow is falling steadily outside, with as much as 9 inches (about 23 cm) expected, and another snowstorm is forecasted for this weekend.
Recently, I saw the following Bluebird at the refuge. It came back too early and looked disappointed at the cold and bleakness of winter.
Nearby, a Great Blue Heron who did not migrate offered some advice.
I love that bluebird photo!! ❤

Ah, our winters are nothing compared to what you get in Canada. I hope spring will come back soon enough for you.

It always arrives, we
Just need to be patient. I’m about 3/4 finished your book. What a lot of research you had to do Hien. I have learned a great deal about this period of history.

Thank you for your feedback. Fortunately, I was able to find a lot of materials on the subject, except those that were destroyed or suppressed by the government in Ha Noi.

Love the Bleeding Hearts of 2010. Are they coming back in 2021 ???
Stay safe and warm during these frigid days.

Bleeding hearts have been coming back every year, mainly because the deer don’t eat them. They are also easy to grow, requiring little care.

Beautiful photos especially the bluebird. We have just come out of a very cold spell in Europe and are back to rain and milder temperatures!

Thank you Emma! It’s going to get warmer toward the end of this week, so lets’ hope winter is going to be gone until 2022.

At this end of the world I have almost the same expression as your bluebird just at the thought of the approaching autumn season…
Lovely photographs, as always, Hien.

At least our cold is nothing compared to what you have to endure there, Hien, otherwise I would have had to appropriate the swallows’ migration map!

We’ve had bluebirds here in MA all winter, gobbling the berries around the yard and recently seen on the suet feeders… guess they are adapting to winter with a bit of help.
Hang in there, Spring will be here before we know it!

I used to think they are migratory birds, but the maps say they are year-round birds in most of the northeast. However, the bluebirds that nested in our backyard left last year after their babies fledged.

Each photo here is a celebration of nature, Hien–beautiful. I hope you and the bluebirds can heed the GBH’s advice during these frigid, trying days…stay warm, my friend.

Thank you Jet! I still try to do daily walks, but sometimes the cold could be hard to bear for any prolonged interval.
