Beautiful! It looks like the egret is ‘jumping for joy’! 🙂

Do the Grackles look that blue to the naked eye? Your song sparrow is a long legged chap!

The grackles appear darker than that, but when the sunlight is right their blue becomes more visible.

Splendid captures, Hien! I love how you caught the purple-blue of the grackles and the grace of the egret, pure ballet!

Thank you Katelon. I am fortunate indeed to live not too far away from the refuge.

This is a wonderful array of beautiful bird scenes at the Edwin B. Forsyth NWR, Hien. You did a good job of sharing the activities of all these feathered friends, but I especially enjoyed the grace and elegance of the landing egret in the final photo.

Thank you Jet! The cold weather is late but it is coming, at which time the refuge will be more deserted. The egrets will go south, but winter ducks will replace them.

Hien–these are all so pretty. The noisy bath is fun–look at the other birds all looking at him! Too cute. But the graceful landing is wonderful.

Thank you Lois! The bather was making a lot of noise and that was what attracted my attention.

I have always loved grackles. We don’t see them here very much any more.

Would you know why the grackles seem rare in your part of the country? Where I am there seems to be more of them in the past few years.

I do not know. Many species have moved on from our region in the last few years. We used to have flocks of Evening Grosbeaks but they have been gone for years. The bluejays seems to be coming back but two years ago there was nary a one.

That Greater Yellow Legs taking a bath was noisy and I turned to look and took the shot. Thanks Takami!
