Two Great Egrets were fighting at the refuge. I have seen them do that before, with most “fights” lasting a few seconds. The following lasted almost a minute, over several bouts in succession until everything quieted down. Were they competing for territory, or for some female egret?

You are probably right about the young upstart. He should have known better than to intrude.

Thank you! Sometimes dancing could look like fighting, even with humans.

Excellent catch beautifully captured Hien! Lois mentioned that you often go to the Edwin B. Forsythe Nature Reserve. I was at a wedding nearby the other week and discovered it thanks to Trip Advisor. What a glorious spot. I’ll be posting some images one of these weeks. Didn’t realize we’d find something like that so I didn’t have my good camera. I-phone was better than nothing but nowhere as strong as a real lens with some reach. Is that where you found these beauties?

Looks like egret ballet. That one on the left was not backing down, was he? The photos are wonderful, Hien.

Indeed. The warmer than usual weather has attracted many egrets to the refuge, and maybe situations like this one occur daily.
