My husband was walking down the road when a young boy he didn’t know asked him if he wanted some sunflowers, and handed him two small plants. I put them in the patch outside my studio, where one got severed, probably by marauding pigeons. So I put a stake of wood in front of the other to ward off trouble, and now it is vast and about to flower. Hope it looks as good as your sunflower.

I hope you will get a nice plant and lots of sunflowers. Then save some seeds for replanting next year.

Thank you Marcela! These are not as tall as other sunflowers but more reachable for photography.

Thank you Eliza! The deer ate several sunflowers, but gave up after I sprayed them with with deer and rabbit repellent.

Darned nibblers! I only have two sunflowers this year for similar reasons. Sigh.
