This week, the Rose-breasted Grosbeak, a bird I had never seen before, made its appearance in our backyard. It was late in the evening, sunlight was fading, and this beautiful bird landed on the bird feeder then sauntered about, asking to be photographed.
Earlier, our familiar Ruby-throated Hummingbird was back, persistently visiting the nectar feeder.

I live in Waukesha WI and am fortunate this year to have 3 pair of Rose Breasted Grosbeaks visiting my backyard. I have seen them everyday since May 3rd. Can’t wait to see if any youngsters visit this summer.

These two birds don’t come often, and then that hummingbird is so small and moves so fast!

Awesome captures, Hien! I would love to see and capture the Rose-breasted Grosbeak, what an awesome visitor! Well-done RT Hummingbird in flight, even capturing the light in his eye! 🙂

The images are terrific! It was nice of such a handsome grosbeak to visit and pose, most of the ones that I see aren’t as nicely colored. I love any photo of a hummingbird, as I know how quick they are, another well done!

Yes, but it’s been a while. I use too enjoy the Rose-breasted coming to the feeder when I was back east, but they where only passing by on their way north.

Thank you Doda. We live near a wooded area and get many visitors, birds, deer, foxes, badgers, and so on. That Grosbeak was a first-timer.
