According to the dictionary, a pose is “a sustained posture, especially one assumed for artistic effect”. The second part of the definition does not apply to birds. Most birds fly, and they do so gracefully as their bodies have to conform to the demands of aerodynamics. At rest, they become more compact and assume natural poses to observe their surroundings, or to preserve heat when necessary.

As always Hien your bird photos are some of the most astounding I have seen. The one with the water droplets coming off the wings and the fresh fish catch especially captivating.

I love the way the legs stick out in flight with the Great Egret.

Those long legs stick out, more so with egrets than with other birds.

Thank you C.S.! That Snowy Egret stood in one place for a long time, and did not care that someone was clicking away nearby.

These are some wonderful poses even if the birds didn’t know they were doing them for artistic effect.
