As I was driving to reach the southern end of New Jersey, a field of red clover came into view, and I had to stop. The red of the clover just stood out vividly against the green country side with an unremarkable pale sky.
Red clover is often used as a crop to increase the fertility of land that has been exhausted by cultivation of other crops. I wanted to confirm that and tried to look for the people who farm this field, but it was Sunday morning and there was no one around to ask.
Just one word – amazing

Clover is an excellent natural soil replenisher/fertilizer, it is often used instead of manure, in fact, it’s called “green manure’.

Thanks. I’ll have to try it on my garden which probably needs this green manure!

BEAUTIFUL shot -but crikey, your clover flowers are ENORMOUS, Hien ! If we had red clover here (which I’ve never seen or heard of), the flowers would be about the size of my thumbnail. 🙂

You are right. I was surprised at the size of the flowers also and at first could not figure out what they were.

Thanks Doda. It was a sight I had never seen before. I wonder if they are growing it for some medicinal purpose (see Katelon comment below).

I think Katelon is right. It’s a widely used herb in medicine for its beneficial properties. It is said it stimulates the immune system and also is thinning the circulation of blood which is good for our heart. Doda 🙂

Red clover blossoms are great blood cleansers for your body.

Maybe they are growing them for that! Too bad I couldn’t find any farmer to ask.
